Joseph Weintraub wins Loebner Prize (again) Joseph Weintraub's computer entry "PC Professor" is the undefeated champion of natural language computing. His program has earned this title by winning the Loebner Prize each of the four times it has been entered. His entry, PC Professor, was judged "more human" than entries submitted by Dr. Thomas Whalen (last year's winner), Mr. Robby Garner, and Mr. Philip Maymin, whose entries were ranked in that order. The Loebner Prize Competition is the annual Turing Test in which a prize is awarded to the computer program judged "most human" by a panel of judges. Judges for this competition were: Steven Cherry, Executive Editor, Magazines, Association for Computing Machinery Earl Cox, Author Robert Gebeloff, Technical Writer, Bergen (NJ) Record Robert Knight, Host, Radio Station WBAI Elaine Rivera, Correspondent, Time Magazine Joel Swerdlow, Senior Writer, National Geographic Magazine In the Loebner Prize Contest, judges have evaluated computer entries against human subjects in conversations over computer terminals. The 1996 Contest is scheduled to be held April 19th 1996 also at the Salmagundi Culb in NYC (time and place subject to change).
